Types of Online Earnings You Didn't Know Were Possible… When it comes to choosing an online career, there are two main types of online earners: freelancers and entrepreneurs. Each has their own set of skills and experience that can benefit them in different ways, but both can take advantage of many of the same opportunities that exist today. Today we’re going to take a look at some types of online earnings that you might not have known existed, but which are within reach of anyone willing to put in the work and effort required to succeed in this field.
The Top Five Best Types of Self-Employment and Online Income… Online income comes in many forms. Although everyone’s definition of online income will vary, there are many different ways you can earn it. How much money you earn, how much time you put into your online business, and what sort of work environment works best for you are all questions that you should consider before deciding on the right type of self-employment and online income for you and your family’s situation. Below, we’ll explore five of the most popular types of online income and give you some tips on how to make them work best for you and your business goals.
Online Income Ways for Worldwide Freelancers… There are many ways to make money online, but not all of them are suitable for worldwide freelancers. Here are some online income ways for worldwide freelancers that you can use no matter where you live in the world and how much time you have on your hands. All of these ways will allow you to keep your skills sharp and gain valuable real-world experience, while making money and having fun!
Where to start
It’s great if you want to be a freelancer and make money online. The first thing you need to ask yourself is why do you want to do it? Do you want an online job that allows you to set your own hours and take time off when needed? Are you looking for something part-time that can supplement your other income or are you wanting to start a business full-time?
The 5 most important platforms
These are, in my opinion, currently the most important platforms for worldwide freelancers. I’ve used all of them extensively and can say that they all offer something unique—but all five are absolutely worth checking out to ensure you get started on an online income quickly! There are others that we’ll talk about later but these are your best bets if you’re starting out right now. Without further ado: Top Five Online Earning Platforms
Upwork
You can find up to date and paid freelancing jobs at Upwork, an online marketplace that helps businesses find skilled freelancers. With Upwork you can set your own rates and earn money from home working on a variety of freelance jobs such as web design, internet marketing, logo design, copywriting, content creation and much more. Be sure to read their overview page in order to make sure you qualify. This is a great way to get started building up your business career while also making some extra cash along the way.
Fiverr
If you have skills or experience, Fiverr is a great platform to use. You can provide various services on Fiverr from something as simple as data entry to virtual assistants and many things in between. All it takes is time and a passion to do what you love.
Problogger Job Board
Are you trying to find jobs from home? Would you like to make money writing articles? If so, I highly recommend you check out my resource hub on Problogger. Here, you’ll find daily job postings of freelance writing gigs and other ways to make money online. (All of them are legitimate opportunities, too.) It’s one of my go-to resources when I need help making extra cash.
PeoplePerHour
Another good place to find jobs that pay hourly is a site called PeoplePerHour. You can expect to earn $1–10 per task, and sometimes even more if you’re very skilled. It works like most other freelancing sites in that once you accept a job, you’ll be asked to complete it within a certain amount of time and will receive payment via PayPal. Payment is issued at whatever rate you agreed upon when accepting a job.
99Designs
A site like 99Designs can be a great way to find new business clients or freelance jobs. Unlike traditional freelancing platforms, such as Upwork and Fiverr, you don’t need a dedicated personal website to create profiles on these sites—just your social media accounts.
Freelance writing
Like other self-employment ventures, freelance writing offers opportunities for creative control and flexibility, but it can also be fraught with uncertainties. Flexibility is a double-edged sword: On one hand, you can set your own schedule; on the other, you have to make your own schedule. Depending on how business is going, your income will fluctuate from month to month—and sometimes week to week—making budgeting difficult.
Dropshipping eCommerce
Dropshipping is when a business owner buys a product at wholesale prices, adds it to their website, and then sells it directly to their customers. There are many eCommerce companies that offer dropshipping services. This is great for entrepreneurs looking to start an online business on a shoestring budget. To get started, try Shopify (Shopify Review) or Oberlo (Oberlo Review). Shopify offers a 14-day free trial.
Become an Instagram Influencer
Influencer marketing is a hot field right now, with some big names like Kim Kardashian raking in millions for sponsored Instagram posts. But you don’t need to be a celebrity to get started—the simple fact is that top Instagrammers have thousands (if not millions) of loyal followers who trust their opinions. This makes becoming an Instagram influencer easier than ever before: all you need is a bit of hustle, and some clever thinking about how to get more followers.
Affiliate Marketing
An affiliate marketer gets a commission for every sale they generate, typically within a specific sales channel like Amazon or Paypal. Affiliate marketing is super popular because it’s so easy—you don’t need to create your own product or service (or, you know, do any work). But just because it’s easy doesn’t mean that people are making boatloads of money with affiliate marketing.
Selling on Amazon
These online income types are changing rapidly as online sales grow. The average American household spends $3,200 per year on Amazon—and that's just for physical goods. If you'd like to get a piece of that e-commerce pie, selling on Amazon is one way to do it. Make sure you know how much you can realistically make by researching retail prices and fees first.
Sell your website domain names
Selling website domain names is a tried-and-true way to make money online. If you’re still paying for web hosting for sites that aren’t making you any money, it might be time to sell them—check out these great tips on where to post and how to sell your domain names for more. In particular, Flippa has emerged as one of the most popular online marketplaces for website domains—see their current listings here .
Create an informational product
The online income types open up numerous possibilities for freelancers, who can work from anywhere in the world. One such type is creating an informational product—an e-book or video, for example—and selling it as a digital download. Even if you don’t plan to sell your product right away, offering it for free has other benefits, including helping you build a mailing list and potentially attracting paying customers down the road. (You’ll learn more about these benefits in Chapter 2.)
Digital tutoring
Online tutoring is a great option for those who want to work online but aren’t interested in freelance writing or web design. It works best for people with specific areas of expertise, whether that’s cooking, math, or photoshop.
Youtube monetization
These days, you can make a living as a full-time YouTuber, but it does take hard work. First, you need to build up an audience of people who like what you have to say and are interested in your niche. Then comes monetization. If your channel is geared for educational or entertainment purposes (as most are), there’s a good chance you can monetize your videos through YouTube Partner Program ads—but it takes time to get there.
Surveys & Sites like Swagbucks, MySurvey, etc.
Paid surveys and Swagbucks-type sites like MySurvey are great for earning points or cash, respectively. However, there are many other types of ways to work online. These include freelancing, ghostwriting jobs, tutor/teacher/tutoring opportunities (note: I am not a teacher or tutor), selling your stuff online (eBay, Craigslist), participating in research studies online (paid focus groups and such) etc.
Ebay Selling
Ebay is a great way to turn your stuff into money. Selling on Ebay gives you more control over prices, and also allows you to take advantage of unique selling opportunities. It’s easy to get started selling online—just remember, it takes time for your business to grow. Always check eBay before buying something new; chances are someone else is selling it for less than you would pay at a retail store.
Pushing out a link to your content on Facebook or Twitter is one of easiest and most cost-effective ways to promote yourself online. If you have friends and followers who share your interests, consider posting about your latest project for them to share. These platforms are also great places to find people looking for writers like you. Find someone looking for a ghostwriter on Twitter, or reach out to potential collaborators on LinkedIn if you’re interested in an editorial partnership.
Best way of online earnings_
There are tons of ways to work online, and website development is one of them. Some other types include writing/content creation, customer service, data entry, SEO (search engine optimization), blogging, sales and marketing. If you want to make money online as a website developer—and if you have experience or training in code or design—you can set up your own business as a freelancer using platforms like Elance or Upwork. Keep in mind that building a successful online business takes time, effort and planning.

Building your own online shop is, by far, one of my favorite ways to make money. With that said, it’s probably not as simple as it sounds – but if you take your time and do things right, it can be a great way to generate passive income on autopilot. Whether you’re building a multi-million dollar business or just starting out with an online storefront, these five tips will help you get started on making serious money from home!
6.(3).(5).#Buy and Flip Websites:
Buying and flipping websites is a good way to earn money online. It can also be expensive, time-consuming, and frustrating. For example, take a look at websites like Flippa or Empire Flippers. As you can see on those sites, there are hundreds (if not thousands) of websites that get listed for sale every day. Most of these websites don’t sell – at least not right away, if ever.
6.(3).(6).#Website Design:
There are a number of different types of website designs to choose from. The best kind for your business depends on what your marketing goals are, and whether you plan to have custom-made pages or buy a standard template and modify it. The most popular templates include Squarespace, Wix, WordPress and Weebly. Take some time to figure out which is right for you.
6.(3).(7).#Become a Graphics Designer:
If you want to earn online, but you’re not a designer, don’t fret. Just because design seems like a graphic design position doesn’t mean it is only for designers. If you have good organizational skills and are tech-savvy, graphic design could be your ticket to making money online. However, designing graphics isn’t as easy as it sounds.
6.(3).(8).#Set up a Content and Web Development Business:
If you’re looking to branch out on your own, consider setting up a web development business. You can focus on creating custom websites for small businesses and make $50-$75 per hour doing so. However, you must know how to code to set up a website from scratch—it’s not as simple as installing WordPress (free) on a hosted domain.
6.(3).(9).#Web Testing:
Earning money while helping companies test their websites is a good way to find online income. With so many businesses testing their products online, you have plenty of options for making some extra cash. You’ll need basic skills in web design, but some companies may be willing to hire you for your opinions if you explain that you are just starting out and want to learn more about user experience. This can help get your foot in the door with larger companies!
6.(3).(10).#Test Websites and Give Feedback as survey:
Your clients are probably pretty willing to offer you feedback on your work, as long as they have an easy way to do so. You can set up a contact us page on your website where they can provide information about what they like or don’t like. Giving clients a direct way to give you feedback—and see that it’s acted upon—is one of the best ways to generate repeat business.
6.(3).(11).#Complete Online Surveys
The simplest way to make extra money online is to sign up with different market research companies. That way, each time you complete a survey, you get paid. Since there are thousands of companies that need survey takers, chances are you’ll find one or two that will pay through PayPal.
6.(3).(12).#Internet searches and online reviews
Before you can start a business, you need to make sure that it’s viable. Searching online will help you determine what types of products or services other people are looking for and willing to pay for. The more demand there is for your product or service, the better. After all, if no one is looking for something, it’s going to be tough to turn a profit.
6.(3).(13).#Internet Research and Surveys
After you have a solid understanding of what kinds of income you’re looking for, it’s time to start researching. It’s true that most internet jobs require some sort of skillset, but there are exceptions. If you love doing something (e.g., gaming, taking surveys) then trying to earn some extra money with it could be a great option for you—but just make sure that it doesn’t cut into your work or social life too much!
6.(3).(14).#Blogging
The Internet is home to a lot of successful online income opportunities. And while blogging is not technically self-employment, it’s one of the most popular ways that people make money online. That said, blogging can be difficult to master—there are dozens of ways to make money blogging, but they all take time and effort. You’ll also need to learn how to market yourself through social media and networking sites as well as create a business plan.
6.(3).(15).#Offer paid memberships in your blog
Creating a membership site can be an incredibly effective way to create ongoing income. Membership sites are best suited for people who have something of value to share—whether it’s expertise, or advice, or instruction—and want to sell their content. In exchange for your information, members pay you a monthly or annual fee, depending on what type of membership site you set up.
6.(3).(16).#Brand ambassador in blogging for a product
Brand ambassadors are essentially salespeople for a company, but instead of pushing tangible products or services, they’re selling (usually) a lifestyle. For example, if you were promoting Zappos on social media as an ambassador, you might share photos of your new shoes on Instagram or Twitter and tell your followers how much you love them.
6.(3).(17).#Create a Money-Making Blog
There are a lot of online money-making opportunities out there, but creating a money-making blog is probably one of the most reliable. If you already have some coding knowledge, starting a money-making website isn’t too difficult. Start by adding affiliate marketing to your arsenal; set up an account with Amazon to make it as easy as possible for people to buy what you’re selling (this is free). Choose one niche and focus on it.
6.(3).(18).#Sell Advertising Space in blog
One of the best ways to start making money as a blogger is by selling advertising space on your site. There are several ad networks out there that will sell ad space on your site, but I recommend using Google AdSense. Google is one of most popular search engines in use today and if you’re regularly getting a lot of visitors then you can sell ad space to advertisers for high prices (for example, over $30 per 1,000 impressions).
6.(3).(19).#Online store
This is probably one of your best bets if you’re trying to make a lot of money quickly. Obviously, setting up an online store takes work—but it’s not as hard as you might think. In fact, there are tons of amazing resources that can help you get started on Shopify or Etsy without having to spend too much time learning how things work.
6.(3).(20).#Sell secondhand goods online
One of the biggest names in online reselling is Decluttr, a site that buys your used CDs, DVDs, games, books, and other media—no matter what condition they’re in—and pays you for them. One thing to keep in mind as you sell on Decluttr: The company doesn’t actually accept all that many items. You won’t get much for old clothes or shoes here.
6.(3).(21).#Sell photographs online
Not to be confused with stock photography, selling your own photographs online can help you make a full-time income. If you have a knack for taking photos, setting up your own site is an easy way to earn extra cash—and potentially more down the line if you develop a reputation for shooting subjects that people want to purchase.
6.(3).(22).#Selling products online
This is one of our favorite income streams here at Side Hustle Nation. While it can be a bit challenging to get off the ground, it’s also probably one of your best bets if you want to start a business that’s completely passive. By selling products online, you can create an ongoing source of revenue for yourself with very little work. (Read How to Start an Online Store by YourSideHustleNation for more tips on how to launch a profitable product store.)
6.(3).(23).#Sell Stock Photos and Footage online
One way to make money online is by selling stock photos or footage. Sites like Shutterstock, iStockPhoto, Alamy, and Pond5 allow you to purchase royalty-free images that are already in use with big brands, which is an excellent source of passive income. If you’re a photographer looking to start your own business or a small enterprise with lots of photos or clips, why not license them out? You’ll earn money every time one of your photos is purchased — without any ongoing costs.
6.(3).(24).#Sell School Notes online
There are many websites where students can sell school notes online. This can be a great way to make some extra cash in between classes, or even a primary source of income. It’s important to check into school rules before you begin selling, since they may not allow it on campus (or anywhere). Sites like mooCup make it easy for anyone to purchase academic notes.
6.(3).(25).#Sell Art and Designs online
if you have any artistic talent, there are sites out there that can sell your designs and art. This can be a great way to create an income from something you’re passionate about – whether it’s music, writing, photography or anything else you enjoy. You’ll need to set up a shop on one of these sites so customers can access your work – but it’s a great way to monetize a hobby. Some great options include: Creative Market , Etsy or Zazzle .
6.(3).(26).#Start & try Drop shipping
Drop shipping is a method of sales in which your supplier ships items directly to your customer. Using drop shipping, you can sell just about anything online, even products that aren’t held in inventory, such as those purchased on auction sites. The profit potential is great when you use drop shipping services. Keep reading to learn more about how you can start your own business using drop shipping today!
6.(3).(27).#Start as a Mystery Shopper
If you love to shop, make money doing it. More companies are recruiting mystery shoppers to do a variety of tasks, from evaluating how long sales associates spend with customers to testing whether checkout lines are fast enough. And since you’re doing it for pay (typically between $10 and $20 an hour), you don’t need to worry about your boss breathing down your neck about taking too much time or making a costly mistake.
6.(3).(28).#Print on demand offering
There are a number of different printing options that you can utilize when it comes to running your own business. In general, you’ll want to choose a printing method that will help you maximize your profit margin while also giving you control over both quality and inventory management. One such option is print on demand (PoD), which allows you to keep just one or two copies of each title in stock at any given time.
6.(3).(29).#Offer Digital Marketing Services
Digital marketing is another way to work online. It involves using tools such as blogs, social media networks, online video, websites, search engine optimization (SEO), and pay per click advertising to increase traffic to your business’s website. If you have an existing business or are going into sales, digital marketing can help you reach a wider audience – including potential customers who live in different states or countries than your current ones. You can even try affiliate marketing as an extra revenue stream to take your earnings even higher.
6.(3).(30).#Create a Digital Course
Now, I realize that $40K per month is nothing to sneeze at—but it’s a healthy income for many folks. To get there, however, you have to be willing to invest some time into creating a digital course or video series. It doesn’t have to be an absolute masterpiece that will take you years to complete—in fact, if you just focus on creating something solid in a relatively short amount of time, it can put some real cash in your pocket.
6.(3).(31).#Set up an Online Course
If you’re willing to put in a bit more time, setting up an online course can be another good way to earn some money as a side business idea. We have a step by step guide to help you do just that. Once again, though, be sure to choose something that will truly help your audience first and foremost. What are their biggest problems? Are you able to solve them with an online course? Why would they want to pay for it?
6.(3).(31).#Affiliate marketing
If you can create a quality product or service that’s appealing to your target audience, affiliate marketing is a great way to monetize it. Affiliate marketing programs give you a page on your site with ads, but you aren’t just selling advertising space. You sell products or services directly through your website! This is great because you don’t have to deal with processing payments for orders or with creating an order form.
6.(3).(32).#Join an Affiliate Program
If you have your own site, joining an affiliate program is a great way to make money while promoting products you believe in. There are tons of affiliate programs out there, from Amazon to Zappos, so you can literally pick your product or niche and then find an affiliate program that fits them.
6.(3).(33).#Start Email Marketing Campaigns
It’s important to start email marketing campaigns because these will help you build your list. It’s a very cheap way to get your name out there without much risk. Make sure you only use high quality opt in forms, so you don’t run into any spam complaints from Google or other email providers. As long as you aren’t being too aggressive with your ads, most people won’t mind getting a few emails here and there if they have signed up for them in advance.
6.(3).(34).#Create an App
The first step to creating a successful app is to create an effective business plan. This will ensure that you have thought out your idea, what needs there are for it in society, who would be interested in paying for it, how much money you would need to get started with your app idea etc. Once you have a solid business plan for your app idea in place, you can go ahead and develop it!
6.(3).(35).#Create a Subscription Job Board
ODesk, Elance, Freelancer are some great places to get started in online work. For example, there’s demand for SEO services and you could build a job board around that niche by offering it as a service on your site. People who need help with their SEO will post a brief description of what they want done on your site and you’ll bid on it. The highest bidder gets to do their work for them.
6.(3).(36).#App buildup
The best way to make money with apps is through in-app purchases, which give users extra functionality for an upgrade fee. In-app purchases can be anywhere from $1.99 to over $100, depending on what you’re selling. There are a lot of great app choices available both on Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
6.(3).(37).#Test Games and Apps
Playing test games or beta testing apps (depending on your skill set) is a great way to make some side cash—if you can spare an hour or two. It can also be fun! The obvious benefit of playing test games for money is that it’s very easy to find work. On Upwork, Fiverr, Digiserved, Sourcepoint, BetaList, Betalist and other similar sites you’ll find hundreds of jobs asking you to play games.
6.(3).(38).#Become a Video Game Streamer
Video games have long been a popular pastime, but streaming them has become even more so in recent years. It’s an easy way to earn income on your own terms, too. Whether you want to dive into a new career or supplement your existing income, here are some tips for becoming a successful video game streamer.
6.(3).(38).#Create a Podcast
Podcasting is a great way to give your content more legs, reach a wider audience, and build your personal brand. Podcasts are also easy to create: All you need is an idea, some recording equipment (or access to someone who has it), a microphone or headset, software for editing recordings, and hosting space on an Internet server or through a service like SoundCloud.
6.(3).(39).#Turn Your Interests into a Podcast That Pays
Podcasting is an excellent side hustle. While it’s not as high paying as some other types of online work, it offers you a level of creative freedom that few jobs do. The great thing about podcasting is that there are no educational requirements or complicated processes; anyone can do it!
6.(3).(40).#Start a YouTube Channel
So many people dream of becoming YouTube stars, but very few understand what it takes to make it. Becoming a successful YouTuber is no easy task, but with hard work and perseverance you can become a leader in your niche. If you’re considering starting a YouTube channel, here are some tips to help you get started.
6.(3).(41).#Create How-To Videos
If you’re struggling to figure out how to make money online, you could easily create a video tutorial to help guide viewers. Simply sign up for a free account on YouTube and start making some videos with your smartphone. Once you’ve developed an audience, businesses will begin contacting you if they need help creating videos in your niche. You can charge businesses on either a per video or hourly basis—or even collect revenue from advertisements that play before your videos.
6.(3).(42).#Vlogging
If you have a YouTube channel, vlogging is another great way to make money online. You can earn money from advertisements or through sponsored content. To get started, you need to register for a YouTube account. Once you’re approved, you can create a channel, upload videos and earn money from advertising revenue.
6.(3).(43).#Video tutorials
Do you have what it takes to be a YouTube star? There’s no way to know for sure without taking some risks. But one thing is for certain: if you don’t try, you’ll never know. If you want to become a YouTube sensation, but aren’t quite sure how, follow these simple guidelines and see where they lead. You never know—maybe your channel will get so big that Google will buy it out and make you rich!
6.(3).(44).#Freelancing
You can set your own hours, avoid office politics, and work from anywhere you’d like—in other words, it’s an ideal way to run a business. Although freelancing jobs might not always be full time or have traditional benefits, many freelancers make a comfortable living on their own terms.
6.(3).(45).#Pick Up Freelance Gigs
One of the biggest benefits to self-employment is that you have plenty of time to look for more opportunities. It’s a good idea to always be on the lookout for new gigs, because freelancing allows you to create your own income on your terms. Freelancing can also be one of many sources of online income—and it could provide extra money as you pursue other dreams like starting a business or traveling.
6.(3).(46).#Freelance Writing
If you have a flair for writing, then freelance work might be an excellent way to keep yourself occupied while also bringing in some extra income. I’ve written about 20+ freelance jobs that can bring in $10,000/year from various websites; many (like writing) are remote, too.
6.(3).(47).#Become a Freelance Proofreader
If you have a good grasp on grammar, spelling, and punctuation—and are interested in making some extra cash—you might consider becoming a freelance proofreader. While most jobs in writing are project-based, freelancing as a proofreader is an exception. You will be hired as an independent contractor to do a job (for example, transcribing an audio interview) based on your skills alone.
6.(3).(48).#eBook
Create your own eBook to sell on your website or give away as a lead magnet.
